To Cut or Not To Cut...That is the question
As some of you may remember, shortly after Lisa left I found out that I have a benign tumor in my left lung. I found out today that my insurance will cover the removal of the tumor. The doctors have confirmed that it is nothing too serious right now, and that it won't hurt anything to leave it alone for now.
At the same time, they suggest having it removed while it is still nothing to worry about.
I have had surgery before on my knee, but a lung is a whole different story.
Yes, I'm scared.
Thoughts?

Jamie and Charlene are the best people that I have never met.
I couldn't ask for better friends (even if some people think they are imaginary).

I would go for it. I understand that you are scared - it will be a major surgery on a lung. However, you will probably be a lot more scared if you have to have the surgery under worse circumstances. Having a surgery to prevent something is one thing but having a surgery for something that could kill you is a different story.
Also, your insurance covers it now but they might not later!!

I'm with Apryl. Do it while it's covered, and not something dangerous. If it grows, or becomes cancerous it could go alot worse.

RE: To Cut or Not To Cut...That is the question
Along with the bionic lung, I'm going to ask them if they can go ahead and do Liposuction while they have me under and some botox injections....oh and a penis enlargement. I'll get their full makeover package with a happy ending.
Here is the other thing. If I get the surgery done, then I will have to tell my family. I haven't even told them about the tumor.
I think the only reason I even made the thread is because I know that getting it taken care of is the smart thing to do, but leaving it alone and worrying about it later IF it becomes a problem is the easy thing to do and I was hoping that atleast one person would back me up that leaving it alone is a good decision.
Have I mentioned I'm not to thrilled about the thought of surgery again? My knee is still fucked up from my surgery in 2000. Having a fucked up lung is a whole different ballgame. Yeah right now it's fucked up, but not in any way that I notice on a day to day basis like with my knee.

If you change jobs and get different insurance, you risj them not covering you too. Previous issues are normally not covered. Get it taken care of.

RE: To Cut or Not To Cut...That is the question
Also, if you get a new job and new insurance and you DO develop lung cancer, need a biopsy, or a removal your new health insurance company will most likely deny any coverage for any condition in that lung because it's a pre-existing condition that wasn't taken care of due to neglect (the neglect being you didn't have the tumor removed when you could have). if you develop lung cancer and it goes untreated for whatever reason (like you haven't noticed it yet) and spreads they also have the right to deny any coverage for any cancer that could be related to your lungs. That my friend could screw you financially for the rest of your life.
I learned that in insurance school. uh huh uh huh uh huh!! (at least it was good for something)

RE: To Cut or Not To Cut...That is the question
I would do it because you are young. Younger people bounce back from surgery much quicker and more easily.
As far as insurance, there have been alot of laws passed regarding pre-existing conditions. If you leave a job with group coverage and get on your new employers group coverage within so many days (around 60) you can usually get pre-existing conditions covered. However, it's no guarantee and one insurance may cover a procedure and another one might not. So if you have an insurer now that will pay for it, that's a bonus.
Have you seen my ship?
