Cyber nanny advice
I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations regarding cyber nanny software. I don't want anything for spying, I just want to be able to block certain websites from being accessed.
any ideas?

If you have a firewall or router, you should have settings that you can do this without having to buy additional software.

Jamie and Charlene are the best people that I have never met.
I couldn't ask for better friends (even if some people think they are imaginary).

Yeah most new linksys routers have the built in features for controlling network activity.
You can restrict sites and usage times

What's the occasion? Did the WoW servers not come back up on time after the weekly maintenance?

I am confused. I have a wireless router, we have 3 computers.....how do I change the settings for just one computer? The computer I am talking about is new and runs on Windows Vista....are you saying I can go in and change settings to limit websites and times the computer is used?
I really need to hire someone to come out to my house and give me a lesson on everything related to my computers.

RE: RE: RE: Cyber nanny advice
It is even easier with Vista.
What you do is log on with your account (which I assume is an administrator account).
Go to Start > Control Panel > Users
Make her an account. Click on her account and click on options, or configure ore something like that ( I don't have a Vista computer close by to check exactly what you click on). Once you are looking at her account, you can turn on parental controls which gives you the option to :
1) Log all of her activity, including websites visited, etc.
2) Turn on content filtering which will restrict websites based on content rating (and you can manually add websites here too)
3) Allow you to set up what times she is allowed to log onto the computer.

Thanks for explaining this. I figured it out and set up the parental controls I wanted for him. I just want to limit times, certain sites, etc. I feel like giving a preteen access to the entire www is about the same as dropping them off in a major city and saying "go have fun do whatever you want...."
I will have to play with the settings until I get them the way I want, but it seems easy enough so far.
Thanks again for your help.

You are welcome.
For the most part it is pretty simple and self explanitory, but if you do have questions, there are enough of us computer nerds on here that someone will be able to help you out.
If any computer stuff ever gets to confusing we can exchange phone numbers in PM and I can walk you through what you need to do, as long you can understand a thick southern accent
